Description

As Americans settle into the new year, it seems the majority are feeling better about the economy — as spending increases and consumer sentiments become more positive, according to researchers. This, combined with a low unemployment rate and a burst of new jobs in the market, indicates high inflation could soon be a thing of the past. However, as the Federal Reserve holds interest rates at a record high, how long will it be until Americans begin to feel true relief after years of unprecedented prices? FOX Business White House Correspondent Edward Lawrence shares why Fed Chair Jerome Powell is choosing to keep interest rates the same for yet another month and how the economy is playing a role on the 2024 campaign trail.
Last month, the Supreme Court lifted an order by the Court of Appeals saying that border patrol agents cannot interfere with razor wire Texas installed along the border, except in medical emergencies. Because thousands of migrants enter the United States every day, the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, said that the state would not stop putting up razor wire. Governor Greg Abbott calls the crisis an invasion, accusing the federal government of failing to protect his state. George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley describes the tense legal battle between the state and federal government.
