There are rare instances when our lives become so disrupted that by the time we arrive at the other end of the tunnel, we come out as a different person. For house fire survivor Matthew Schlagenhaft, his traumatic experience and the long road to recovery led him to pursue what he is passionate about. Trapped alone in a burning house in Arlington, Virginia in 2017, Matt suffered from internal burns in his lungs, which caused difficulties in breathing and extreme discomfort for years. Coming out strong from his recovery, he is now back playing hockey – his real passion.
