Chronic absenteeism in school has been a growing problem in the U.S. for years. The COVID-19 pandemic only made it worse. Several cities have even attempted programs that incentivize kids to show up to class. Ohio State Representative Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinatti) is co-sponsoring a bill that addresses truancy in his state by paying parents and students for exceptional attendance.
