Johanna Ferreira is a Dominican American journalist, writer, and storyteller with over 10 years of media experience. Johanna has worked at numerous media outlets and has contributed to renowned digital publications, including. Refinery29, Oprah Magazine, Allure, InStyle, Well and Good, Travel and Leisure, and many more.
All of her work is focused on storytelling that champions the Latina culture and intersectional identities. These days, she works as a content director for PopSugar's Latina destination, Juntos. Formerly known as Popsugar Latina. No matter where she's at, or what she's doing, her mission is to inspire and make underrepresented communities feel seen and valued through storytelling.
In this week’s episode, Johanna talks about the expectations placed on her as a Dominican eldest daughter living in NYC and how defying those expectations led her to become her most authentic self. Growing up, she had plenty of people around her dimming her light. They told her she was too loud, too talkative, and too opinionated.
