Joe & Joe Weather Show on this Sunday August 23, 2020 Tropical Storms Marco and Laura continue their march to the Central Gulf Coast. These storms will landfall 48 hours apart with Marco landfalling Monday in Southeast Louisiana probably as a minimal hurricane. Laura is moving across Cuba today and tonight and will emerge into the Gulf of Mexico on Monday. Conditions will become very conducive for strengthening. Laura will become a hurricane and heads for East Texas, Western Lousiana for a landfall on Wednesday. There is only one instance of a double hurricane landfall in the same general area and that was in 1955 when Hurricane Connie made landfall in North Carolina followed by Hurricane Diane 4 days later. In the Northeast and Northern Middle Atlantic states summer heat and humidity continue and this will culminate Tuesday with a potential severe weather outbreak across this area.
