**Who was Stanley Meyer?**


Stanley Meyer was an American inventor and entrepreneur known for his claims of having developed a technology capable of running a car on water as a fuel source. He held various patents related to electronic control systems and, most notably, his invention of a purported water fuel cell.



Meyer claimed that his water fuel cell could split water into its components, hydrogen and oxygen, using a process that consumed minimal energy and produced a combustible gas (HHO or oxyhydrogen). According to him, this gas could be used as a fuel source for internal combustion engines, replacing traditional gasoline.



He gained attention in the 1990s after public demonstrations of a dune buggy purportedly running on water. Meyer's claims about the water-powered car and the technology behind it sparked significant interest and controversy.
