Legendary Indiana Hoosiers basketball coach Bob Knight passed away Wednesday. He was 83. Knight's Big 10 connections began before his days in Bloomington as he won a national championship in 1960 playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes. His coaching career began at the age of 24 at Army.   
But Knight made his name during his 29 years as the Indiana Hoosiers basketball coach where he won 3 national championships and 661 games. Knight and Dean Smith are the only two men to win a college basketball championship both as a player and coach. Knight also coached the 1984 U.S. Men's basketball team to an Olympic gold medal.   
After some documented controversies, Indiana fired Knight in 2000. Afterward, he took the Texas Tech basketball job and compiled five twenty win seasons and left the game as the all time winningest coach in Division I history. He is survived by his wife and two adult sons.
