Description

Malo  and welcome to Season 3 Episode 56 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a bright and  sunny Friday morning 25 November 2022, coming to you from paradise on  the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In  Qatar – at the FIFA World Cup today: Cristiano Ronaldo became the first  player to score in five FIFA World Cups with a penalty for Portugal 3-2  Ghana. In other results, Uruguay 0-0 South Korea, Switzerland 1-0  Cameroon, Belgium 1-0 Canada and global favourites Brazil plonked Serbia  2 nil. FIFA expects over 5 billion viewers,  more than 60% of the world’s population to watch the World Cup in  Qatar. Viewership is already up with the opening game — Ecuador’s 2-0  win over Qatar — averaging 6.2 million viewers in the U.K., 2 million more than 2018’s World Cup opener. In  rugby union – the shortlist of Coaches to replace Eddie Jones at  Twickenham for England after the RWC 2023 includes former Ireland star,  Ronan O’Gara, the Crusaders “Razor” Scott Robertson and unconfirmed and  unlikely current Ireland Head Coach Andy Farrell – Father of England  Captain, Owen. In  rugby league – despite reaching the final of the Rugby League World Cup  in England last weekend, Samoa will remain a tier two nation — and  International Rugby League Chairman Troy Grant says that won’t change  “any time soon.” The reason being no real structure, organization and  comp back home in the islands. In boxing – while  tickets have reportedly sold well for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, rival  boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn believes that the Tyson Fury versus Derek  Chisora trilogy fight in London next month will be a pay-per-view flop  because the fight will cost fans £27 to watch on TV. Finally this news - Budweiser wants a refund. The giant American brewer is seeking a US$47.4Million refund  from their sponsorship deal with FIFA after the Qatar Royal family  pressured FIFA into reversing course and banning beer sales in Qatar  Stadiums just two days before the FIFA World Cup started. Budweiser  can only sell its nonalcoholic Bud Zero at FIFA World Cup games in  Qatar and its regular beer at a few designated fan zones. Due to Qatar’s lack of breweries and intense heat, Budwiser had to ship its beer via ocean freighter and store it in refrigerated warehouses. Budweiser paid FIFA US$75M to be the official beer supplier for this World Cup in Qatar and has a deal for US$112M for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Mexico, and Canada. Budweiser says they will give all unsold beer in Qatar to the country that wins the World Cup. Cheers big ears!
