Description

On this episode of the podcast, we delve into the importance of not settling for the status quo and constantly seeking ways to improve. Our guest, Dr. Christi Bartlett, shares her personal journey of realizing she had settled for too long in her career as a doctor, thinking that a hectic schedule and late-night work were the norm. She emphasizes the vital role of self-care, not just physically, but also in terms of personal choices and relaxation.Wellness, according to Dr. Bartlett, goes beyond simple activities like taking a bubble bath. It's about giving oneself the freedom to choose how to relax and optimize clinical schedules and workflows. By doing so, physicians can experience more freedom and better overall wellness. They also discuss the struggle of convincing themselves that their approach would work and sticking with it.The episode concludes with a discussion on the importance of having a place outside of the typical clinical day to reflect on one's life, as medicine can sometimes feel lonely. Dr. Bartlett also emphasizes the value of striving for a work-life balance and teaching learners how to be efficient in their charting.Join us on this episode as we explore Dr. Christi Bartlett's insights on improving wellness, optimizing workflows, and reshaping teaching methodologies in the medical field.
