Repentance is a beautiful gift, but for many people raised in the church it developed a negative and shaming outcome. Repentance is the simple acknowledgment, “I was going the wrong way,” and then making the change of course. Where this falls short is when someone over-analyzes their life with what is “right” and “wrong” and then beats themself up over making the “wrong” decision. This is not repentance. The key element of true and effective repentance is communion with God, where who He is begins to rub off on you.
