Description

This week’s Urban Valor story features U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran O.C. Fowler, Jr. O.C. was a Navy pilot during the Vietnam war and flew approximately 650 missions during his year-long combat tour. He was part of Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three Seawolves, part of the brown water Navy Task Force 116. O.C. is heavily decorated and talks us through having to control his helicopter and land in a rice patty field after being shot down during one of his missions. It’s one of many stories O.C. tells during his interview. O.C. was voted unanimously 2021-2022 Veteran of the Year by the Veterans Council of Chatham County in addition to being inducted into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame. This veteran interview is yet another example of why Urban Valor works to capture these incredible stories and honor these Veteran War Heroes.
