Clark not only directed the first seasonal slasher for Christmas but shockingly returned to Christmas as the director of the winter juggernaut A Christmas Story nine years later. Audiences in 1974 were shocked by this film's visceral first-person perspectives, blood-curdling phone calls and general mystery surrounding the antagonist. Despite lukewarm reception on release, Black Christmas has inspired countless slasher genre tropes and was a direct inspiration to Halloween four years later.  Black Christmas revolves around the events unfolding at a sorority house during winter break at a peaceful university. When sorority sister Claire goes missing and prank calls to the house become more and more obscene, the atmosphere in this college town turns dark.
