I used to throw away pennies because saw them as worthless. It was indicative of how I felt about myself and my life. Through intentionally exercising my "gratitude muscle," my entire mindset has shifted from scarcity to abundance. I discovered that happy people are not the ones with much to be thankful for, it is thankful people who are happy! Listen as I explain more:

I was an unhappy, ungrateful person. Perhaps the main reason for my unhappiness was lack of gratitude for what I had.
I had suffered many hardships, setbacks, frustrations, and losses. I focused on that!
I became blind to my victories, the success, and the abundance still in my life.
When I first heard that happiness was directly linked to gratefulness, I thought "I'd be happy if I had anything to be grateful about!"
I had bought into the lie that happiness comes from the accumulation of stuff, the receiving of praise and approval

More stuff, more approval, more love from others = more happiness


I did not value the things I had in my life because I was focused on getting more, newer, bigger, better
I used to throw away pennies!
Through the practice of keeping a gratitude log and forcing myself to look for things to be grateful for, I grew a gratitude muscle
I learned that it's not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy
I learned to be thankful for what I had right now, at this moment.
Gratitude for what you have opens up the door for more goodness to come into your life
But even if it doesn't, I learned that what I had was enough, because what I had was more than what others have--and they are happy
I learned that just being a live is all I NEED and everything else is blessing.
