Description

Aimee Baron, M.D.  is the founder and director of I Was Supposed To Have A Baby, which is a social media platform that supports Jewish families struggling to have a child. It provides a supportive space for families who are going through infertility, pregnancy loss, infant loss, surrogacy or adoption, in addition to connecting those families to resources in the Jewish community. Dr. Baron was formerly the Director of Innovation and Growth at Nechama Comfort, and has also worked as an Attending Pediatrician in the Newborn Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital before taking a leave of absence after her third miscarriage.  Dr. Baron lives in Riverdale, NY, with her husband and five children.   What you will hear in this episode: -Aimee shares her personal experience with unexplained secondary infertility and multiple pregnancy losses. She noticed that on a communal level ( the Jewish Orthodox community) we were not talking about these difficult scenarios nor was there a greater awareness and sensitivity shown for couples in these painful situations.  -We talk about  Aimee's goal which is support couples going through this difficult journey by connecting them with resources and facilitating their involvement in a greater community of people who can share their stories and help one another. She is also passionate about raising awareness to those who are unfamiliar with these situations since most people will likely be affected or will know some who will affected by these issues.  - We discuss the many myths often associated with secondary infertility and infertility. Aimee stresses the importance of being extremely sensitive when it comes to offering sympathy and advice. Offering unconditional support vs unsolicited advice and allowing an individual to sit with their grief are just a few of the  key points that we discuss.  Favorites: Quote: "Done is better then perfect."
