Description

This week the I Know That Face crew tackle a titan of Japanese cinema. Ken Watanabe began acting in the late 70s and became widely known throughout Japan for his samurai roles. Beginning with the 1985 classic Tampopo and taking in everything from his work in Tom Cruise's ego project The Last Samurai to Clint Eastwood's sensitive humanistic Letters From Iwo Jima, Watanabe brings a dignified grace to every role he chooses. His presence in western blockbusters like Batman Begins, Inception and both recent Godzilla movies lend an added weight to scenes that would otherwise feel like exposition dumps. With an upcoming role in Michael Mann's Tokyo Vice series Watanabe isn't finished in the spotlight yet.
