Well, well, well. Tough day for those who thought the San Francisco Giants' offense was cooked after two shutout losses in New York. And tough day for though who thought SF Giants starter Anthony DeSclafani was done for after five injury-plagued starts in 2022. The Giants blasted seven home runs and DeSclafani looked like the best version of himself in a 12-3 Giants win.
Baseball is a funny game. One day the Giants can get shut out and look horrible, and literally the next day they can tie the record for the most home runs in a game in franchise history. Which version of the Giants is the real one? It's the combination. Overall, despite the ups and downs, the SF Giants' offense on the whole looks roughly as expected through four games.
DeSclafani's outing was beyond encouraging. He had excellent command of all of his pitches. They were moving well and featuring strong velocity. DeSclafani is under contract with the SF Giants through 2024, so getting him back to the 2021 version of himself, which is exactly how he looked yesterday, would be a great sign for this year and next.
