The original flick is still really funny with Will Smith’s charisma, Tommy Lee Jones’ deadpan stoicism and Vincent D’Onofrio’s buglike commitment bouncing beautifully off each other. The makeup, the F/X, Egger, the noisy cricket, the theme song, the creativity. This is director Barry Sonnenfeld’s finest hour. So much gold.
