Description
This video features Dr. Sivan Kinberg, MD, MS, MA, assistant professor of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and director of the Pediatric Intestinal Rehabilitation Center at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Kinberg’s interest in nutrition began early when she saw her mother cope with short bowel syndrome (SBS). It continued during her residency at the Long Island Jewish Hospital NICU where she cared for a series of babies with SBS. She is currently developing the GUTSY Clinic, a healthcare transition program for adolescents and young adults with short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure. Dr. Kinberg suggests junior faculty seek out resources from ASPEN and other professional societies, and if they are interested in intestinal rehabilitation or building a nutrition program, she suggests spending time at a larger program that’s already instituted to learn and not have to start from scratch.
