Description
This video honors Dr. Christian Stoppe, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Würzburg in Germany. His journey to nutrition began when fellow ASPEN member, Dr. Daren Heyland, invited him out to dinner and asked for his opinion on a potential clinical trial collaboration. Dr. Stoppe’s overarching purpose for his research is to improve nutrition practice for patients in the ICU and increase its awareness in Europe, where its impact is underrecognized. He works on several clinical trials to evaluate the potential significance of different micronutrients and vitamins with a particular passion for Vitamin C. Dr. Stoppe advises junior faculty to have a team where one can readily reach out to critically discuss research questions. It’s important to learn from people from different specialties and viewpoints to jointly develop well-informed strategies.
