Dave Portner, better known as Avey Tare, is a musician and songwriter know both for his solo work as well as being part of experimental pop band Animal Collective (alongside Deakin, Panda Bear and Geologist).  Both Animal Collective and Tare's solo work is characterized by musical exploration and experimentation as it effortless moves through a plethora of styles,m including psychedelia, noise and freak pop, and electronica.
