Description

Tahverlee is joined today by Seth Davidson, a recovering lawyer who has spent his life racing bikes since 1984 and now seeks to be a beacon for truth and introspection. In recent years Seth has concluded that there is a better life available so much so that over the coming years he seeks to spend zero time practicing law and all of his time on his bicycle supporting himself with his writing. We talked about the idea of desperation and how often, the thing that connects thecreators of the greatest works, is a need and having their back against thewall. When Seth set out on his 3600-mile bike tour he found that throughencountering hardship, he rediscovered his creativity and gentleness along withmeeting incredible people along the way who have changed his outlook on life.We talked about how by getting rid of belongings and ‘things’ we can experience a newkind of freedom as we become untethered from the emotional bonds that connectus to them.Seth plans in the next 5 years to be an itinerant minstrel on a bicycle reciter ofmedieval Chaucerian poetry. He has already memorized 4000 of the 17000 wordsCanterbury tales by Geoffrey Chaucer in Middle EnglishRead Seth’s Blog Cycling in the South Bay at www.citsb.comQuote: "writers are desperate people and when you stop being desperate, you stop beinga writer" - Charles BukovskyJoin us at www.warmshowers.orgThis episode is brought to you by bikeflights.com.
