Description

Humanitarian reform, here we go again!? Remember the Grand Bargain or the Charter for Change? Reform is necessary to improve our work, but how do we know it worked? What have we learned from past reform successes and failures? Now we have the 'Pledge for Change 2030', led by a Somalia organisation, Adeso; some of the world's biggest aid and development organisations (CARE International, Christian Aid, Plan International, Save the Children International, and Oxfam International) have signed commitments "to create closer partnerships with local and national organisations in a drive to shift more power, decision-making, and money to the places worst affected by crisis and poverty". You can read more about the Pledge here. Lauren and Teia reflect on what's different (or not!) about these new commitments, bringing, as always, a healthy balance of skepticism and hope. Teia and Lauren have worked in the humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding fields for...long enough. Now they’re travelling around in a campervan, on a journey to understand what organisational transformation does, and could, look like. Join them each week as they discuss their non-profit experience and invite guests from across different sectors to pull back the curtain on how organisations function (or not) and understand what can be done on an organisational and individual level to address complex social issues. Are you ready? Are you sure? It might sting. Get Premium Content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
