There are only a handful of artists that you can say have elevated the role of the trumpet into the public spotlight. Pops, Miles, Dizzy, and my special guest for this episode, Jerry Hey. Trumpet players around the world have been inspired by his brilliant playing and arranging. Non-musicians may not know his name, but they can probably whistle his memorable licks.  Since the 1970's Jerry has been a mainstay in the LA studio scene.  He has worked on countless projects as a player, arranger, and conductor. From his early days with Seawind to his chart-topping work with Quincy Jones, David Foster, and Maurice White, Jerry and his band of brothers set the new standard for studio excellence. A six-time Grammy Award winner, Jerry has become the gold (and multi-platinum) standard for horn sections worldwide.
