An interesting movie, highly recommended, Father Stu, revolves around the idea of the power of suffering.
Sorrow and suffering are inevitable parts of human life. We reflect upon it when we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries every Tuesday and Friday. Doctors of the Church taught us that suffering is not only a need for our purification and salvation but also a gift in the Christian life.
Jesus Christ redeemed us through his Passion and Death on the Cross. In a mysterious way of suffering, He united us to Him. We discovered that suffering can be redemptive.
Based on real events, the Father Stu movie shows that suffering would become the defining quality of this spectacular servant and the measure of his priesthood.
