Description
[Comment: God Alone Suffices]
Friends of the Rosary:
Today is the Memorial Day of St. Teresa of Jesus, also known as St. Teresa of Avila, the sixteenth-century Spanish mystic and Doctor of the Church, founder of the Carmelite Discalced order, and author of three classic spiritual books — that are available online for free: The Life of St. Teresa of Jesus, Interior Castle, and Way of Perfection.
With the help of St. John of the Cross, she reformed most of the Carmelite convents and founded new ones.
Teresa of Avila achieved the highest degree of prayer and through prayer obtained an amazing knowledge of divine things and reached a mystical union with God.
St. Teresa composed these well-known lines, which we can use as simple prayer to calm our nerves:
Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing frighten you.
All is passing.
God ever remains.
Patience obtains all.
Whoever possesses.
God cannot lack anything.
God alone suffices.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Teresa of Avila, Pray for Us!
