Description

The Cognitive Crucible is a forum that presents different perspectives and emerging thought leadership related to the information environment. The opinions expressed by guests are their own, and do not necessarily reflect the views of or endorsement by the Information Professionals Association. During this episode, Joe Kirschbaum discusses the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) September 2022 report entitled: Information Environment: Opportunities and Threats to DOD's National Security Mission. This report describes DOD's use and protection of the information environment and describes DOD actions taken and planned to use and protect the information environment. Joe Kirschbaum describes several themes which characterize DOD’s progress related to information-related capabilities including what he calls the “strategy implementation mismatch.” Research Questions:  What’s the right whole of government structure or model that’s appropriate for managing this problem? What’s the right interagency approach? How might the information environment be used in a combined arms construct?
