Description

Today Jack is joined by Stephanie Martin, an environmental communicator and the creator of Stephintonature.com, to tell stories about telling stories!
Whether they are fact or fiction, based in reality or totally bizarre, stories have been used for a very long time to communicate important messages and teach people something new. In the realm of conservation storytelling can therefore be an important tool... but it is a tool that must be used thoughtfully and respectfully. Today, Jack and Steph talk about how you can do just that!
They share their experiences with writing stories, telling myths and legends and speaking more scientifically. They also chat about how they make sure that they tell stories in a way that is respectful and culturally sensitive. Finally, they highlight some of the stories which mean the most to Steph. These include fortress conservation, parachute conservation, mismanagement of land in the UK, and Seagulls and pigeons!
