*Chapter Discussion begins at timestamp 9:50*
Cress and Thorne awake from a short nap in the desert. After traveling all day they are exhausted but must find the strength to continue on. Just when Cress feels like she can't take another step, she notices an oasis in the distance. After struggling to reach the oasis, Cress is forced to admit it was merely a mirage. As Thorne tries to comfort her and promise they will survive, Cress wonders at the likelihood of his words. 
Back with Cinder, after he patches up Wolf, Dr. Erland demands answers from Cinder. She recaps where she has been and what she has been up to, and tells him of her plans to stop Kia and Levanas wedding. But, the Doctor is unimpressed with her plans, not to mention her choice in company. As she tries to discern her next move, Dr. Erland tells her about the people of the town and the promises he has made on her behalf.
