Description
Riding elephants, swimming with sharks, and posing with tigers make for popular content on social media. Travelers and influencers post perfectly curated images with captive wild animals... for the likes. Often, wildlife tourist attractions pose problems in animal welfare that are only worsened by consumer demand.
Natasha Daly, journalist for National Geographic, joins us on the podcast to discuss what these animals lives are really like, and how we can be responsible when participating in animal tourism. Natasha has serious street-cred - she's worked in the field around the world, reporting on animal cruelty within the travel industry. In 2017, she was awarded Reporter of the Year by the Humane Society of the United States for her animal welfare coverage.
