In August last year one of Erics best friends took her own life.  Olivia Podmore was just 24.  Her and Eric had spent the weekend in Queenstown then returned home to Cambridge together, visitng her mum on the way. 
He was the last person to see her alive and one of the first people to find her after she lost her battle with mental illness.
Her final Instagram post detailed her frustrations with high perfornace sport in New Zealand.
