Saying “Yes” is an easy thing to do (often too easy). Many of us are trained to accommodate, assist and oblige others’ needs and wants. But this pattern becomes a runaway train for so many, when we’re not able to stand up for ourselves, or even identify our deepest wants. A chronic habit of an unexamined “Yes” brings us to a never ending list of to-do’s, “shoulds” and resentments. Eventually “yes” can lead to “I’m utterly exhausted and drained” and filled with the anxiety of too many distractions. Listen to what we have learned about how to authentically say “YES!,” and when to walk away.
