Description
Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff did not name any particular school(s) to consider for expansion when he was asked about it, but did clearly state the conference is aggressively pursuing expansion opportunities. Without naming names, he did provide insight as to the criteria he and his team are considering to keep the conference at 12 teams (or more?) ahead of the 2024 season when USC and UCLA will leave for the Big 10. He also made a remark about the Los Angeles area that was not expected, but could be indicative of the conference's future scheduling plans.
On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin looks at perhaps the most intriguing part of commissioner George Kliavkoff's remarks from Pac-12 media days over the weekend. Kliavkoff was clearly frustrated at how everything is playing out, and it's hard to blame him as he's seemingly the captain of a sinking ship that already had punctures in the hull when he assumed control of the helm.
Lastly, a question comes into the show with regards to expansion and whether or not Kliavkoff contradicted himself by saying that he had not personally spoken with other conferences like the Big 12 about a merger opportunity. As Kliavkoff looks to keep the 10 PAC teams in the conference going forward, what might it take to persuade them to turn down potential offers from other conferences? Would adding G5 schools be enough to convince them to stay? All that gets answered on today's show!
