Description

Do the San Francisco Giants need to re-sign Carlos Rodón? The Giants been very good even with Rodón, so it would seem that they'd be setting themselves further back if they don't replace him. The best way for the Giants to replace Carlos Rodón may be for the Giants to bring back ... Carlos Rodón.
The Giants' 2023 rotation options are explored. Logan Webb will be eligible for arbitration for the first time, and is under club control for three more seasons. Alex Cobb, Alex Wood, and Anthony DeSclafani have guaranteed deals for 2023. Jakob Junis, who's been a bright spot this season for the Giants, is arbitration eligible for the final time and can be retained for a relatively cheap salary.
Free-agent options are discussed. Could the Giants try to sign Jacob deGrom to a short-term, high-AAV deal? Something like two years, $90 million? Or would the Giants be better off spending something like 4/$120M on Rodón? Plenty of options are out there, but Rodón and deGrom are pretty clearly the best available. The Giants should probably sign one of them and also spend aggressively in the position player market, where stars like Aaron Judge and Trea Turner are free agents.
