Description

Is a different type of offseason for the Giants on the horizon? San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi recently said that it's important for the Giants to establish two to five everyday players. He also admitted that the SF Giants' top prospects are unlikely to arrive in time to be those everyday guys in 2023. That seems to suggest that the Giants must sign or trade for everyday players this offseason if they want to have them next year.
Aaron Judge headlines the class. He's likely to be the AL MVP this season, and he may end up with 60+ home runs. Judge is a Bay Area native and grew up a huge Giants fan. There's real intrigue here since he may actually be open to coming home and playing for his hometown Giants. Other outfielders of note are Brandon Nimmo and Mitch Haniger.
The shortstop class is loaded again. Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts, Dansby Swanson, and Carlos Correa are very good players the Giants could sign. It seems more likely that the Giants would target players who aren't necessarily pure shortstops, but rather guys who can play other positions as well.
Nolan Arenado is a third baseman who's increasingly likely to opt out and should be a consideration for the SF Giants. At first base, a couple of names stand out for the Giants: Josh Bell and José Abreu.
