On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick details the San Francisco Giants' signings of Alex Cobb and Alex Wood. Both starters were among only six in major league baseball last season with at least 90 IP and a K% ≥ 24% and ≥ 50%. Logan Webb was also among the six. The Giants' rotation is now mostly made up of pitchers that possess this rare combination of skills: an ability to keep the ball on the ground, and an ability to strike people out. Wood's deal was announced in the middle of Ben's recording of the show, and he reacts accordingly.

Ben also gets into last night's tender deadline, with the Giants making some interesting moves. The club non-tendered pitchers Sam Delaplane and Joe Palumbo, as well as outfielder Luis Gonzalez. Those players were thus removed from the team's 40-man roster, which opened spots for the additions of Cobb and Wood, plus another for an unknown reason. It's possible the Giants making another addition today that hasn't been reported on yet. Additionally, the Giants tendered contracts to all of their arbitration-eligible players, including agreements to one-year deals with Austin Slater, Jarlín García, and John Brebbia.
