The Texas Longhorns have been one of the hottest teams on the recruiting trail this year and it continues with Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns landing their 19th commitment in the 2023 class with talented cornerback out of South Oak Cliff, Malik Muhammad. Malik has won a championship on every level of football he has played at, little league, middle school, high school, and he hopes to continue that trend at the University of Texas. We knew that the addition of Arch Manning would bring a lot of really talented players with him to the University of Texas, mostly on the offensive side of the ball. But if Texas wants to compete for a Big 12 championship, and ultimately for SEC championships and national titles, they need to add talented defensive players like Malik Muhammad to their roster as well. Malik Muhammad currently is ranked as the 43rd recruit in the country, five spots below talented receiver and Texas commit Johntay Cook. As John Garcia from Sports Illustrated explains in the video, he is one of the most complete defensive backs in the nation. His ability to play in man coverage, zone coverage, and make plays on the ball will pay dividends for this defense for years to come. This is one of the best players in the nation at a premium position and an outstanding recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian and the University of Texas as they continue their quest to locking up a likely top 3 class and potentially the #1 recruiting class in the nation.
