And sometimes you'll hear people say Merry Christmas and you might be wondering which is the correct thing to say at Christmas time. Well, here's how it works. If you are learning British English, you will probably say Happy Christmas around this time of year. If on the other hand you are learning Canadian English or American English, you are more likely to say Merry Christmas. So that's the only difference. They mean the same thing. It's simply something people say at this time of year. They will say Merry Christmas or Happy Christmas depending on which kind of English you are learning.
