Description

Episode 39 of The Birding Life Podcast

In a slight change from our normal host Adam, Calvin Harris interviews a Tanzanian Bird Guide and local Conservationists who are all passionate about tackling the growing problem of House Crows (Corvus splendens) in Africa. Ian Rushworth and Phumulani Hlongwane work for Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and are both involved in a project to understand and control the spread of this Alien Invasive species particularly in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

The second guest is Andrew Majembe all the way from Tanzania who offers bird tours on the mainland and the islands which make up Zanzibar. Andrew tells us how the spread of House Crows threatens his livelihood as well as the problems they cause for the environment. Join us as we learn about this highly intelligent species and what is being done to 'flatten the curve' of House Crow population growth.
