Description

GeoTel is the leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure data in geographic information system (GIS) and Internet-based spatial technologies for over 16 years. Their highly developed databases encompass 2.6 million miles of carrier fiber routes; more than 440,000 cell towers and rooftop sites; over 1.6 million fiber-lit buildings; and over 9,000 data centers and central offices across more than 7,200 U.S. cities. The multi-layer, attribute-rich maps allow for a variety of custom searches that includes lit, dark, metro, and long-haul fiber; as well as specific carriers, cell towers, broadband, and wire center boundaries. With more than 600 telecom carriers in the U.S. including RBOC and ILEC data, our fiber optic maps designate individual telecom carriers with several distinct attributes. New and existing businesses can use GeoTel’s fiber lit buildings data set to locate buildings with fiber connections and to determine which carriers service those buildings. They take telecom infrastructure data and make it tangible. By layering this data in GIS software or by viewing it in their web-based platform, they make it possible to analyze detailed fiber optic maps and other telecom data sets. These integrated data sets are digitized onto the highest quality digital street maps, digital elevation models, aerial photography, and 3-D imagery. Executive Vice President of GeoTel Communications, Eric Cabading joins me on my daily tech podcast. I learn more about location-based intelligence & geomatics and the kind of problems GeoTel solve for their customers. Eric also reveals how Fiber Location, Wired Real Estate, and Geo-analytics can Drive Business Intelligence. We also talk about emerging tech trends around AI and 5G and how they will improve geospatial technology.
