Ms. Owens says that after a whir-wind teenage romance and a brief marriage to Mr. Raynes, he got her pregnant and then left her to raise the daughter on her own. She says the defendant is fully aware he is the father, and she intends to prove this today. Mr. Raynes says there is no way he is the father of Ms. Owens' child as they were separated and he was living in another county when she conceived. He says Ms. Owens named him the father only to save face in front of her daughter.
