Description

Joe and Sam are back together again, and this time they’re talking about Atlanta United’s 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire in the final regular season home game of the season. Atlanta United manager Tata Martino was tasked with replacing two of the team’s most dynamic attacking players in Miguel Almiron and Tito Villalba. Martino elected to go with the kids, choosing teenagers Andrew Carleton and Ezequiel Barco to fill in along the attacking line.

Atlanta claimed victory as rumors continue to swirl around Martino’s long-term status as the manager of the team. He declined once again to talk about the rumors after the game, but it’s clear that any uncertainty about his future is not impacting the players on the field. Despite the close score, the result never seemed to be in much danger, and Atlanta missed out on several clear scoring chances to add to its lead.

With the win, Atlanta United claimed a berth in the 2019 ScotiaBank CONCACAF Champions League and is one win away from clinching the club’s first trophy when it visits Toronto FC on Decision Day (Sunday).
