Description

On July 23rd, Madeline Bell will be 80 years old. She started her career in the mid-1950s and has since become one of the best-loved singers to have come out of the UK. She was a backing singer for Dusty Springfield, and as a session musician has been featured on tracks where she worked with the likes of Joe Cocker, Elton John, the Stones, and even John Lennon. Her distinctive voice took her to the top of the charts with Blue Mink, and as part of the French disco combo Space. She still tours regularly and played at Ronnie Scott’s in London just last month. She’s a powerhouse of talent, who has an incredible life story. And this is 'I’m Gonna Make you Love Me', the Dee Dee Warwick cover, made famous by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Bell’s version peaked at Number 34 in the States in 1968. Connect with me on Instagram: steve.blameAnd thanks to POP; The History Makers' insanely wonderful talent booker: #ArchieCMichael Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022.
