Description
After a wild few weeks, Horns247 broke the story that Tom Herman has hired Chris Ash as the Longhorns' next defensive coordinator. Ash was the leading candidate in Herman's search for a new DC, and will take over the Texas defense following the Alamo Bowl game vs. Utah. With the defensive coordinator search officially over, the Longhorns are still in need of finding a replacement for Tim Beck after Herman stripped Beck of his OC title following the 7-5 regular season. As Horns247 was first to report in early December, USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell was the top candidate on Herman's mind, but Harrell is not willing to jump ship to join Herman's staff at Texas and resigned a new contract extension with USC.
So where is Texas at now with the lead offensive coordinator candidate off the board?
On a Christmas edition of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes open the show discussing where things stand with the search for OC and give some intel into some holiday traditions of the Horns247 staff. The Flagship then brings on Horns247 publisher Bobby Burton for his take on new leading OC candidate Mike Yurcich. We are also joined by Patrick Murphy of Bucknuts.com for the Ohio State side of Herman's offensive coordinator search.
Chip and Taylor close the show with their latest intel on the OC search, and take a look back at some of the highlights and lowlights of the last decade of Texas football. We hope you enjoy our Christmas special edition of The Flagship Podcast.
Merry Christmas!
