In this episode, we talk to Jai Catacio, the president of peoples’ organisation (PO) Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Pamilyang Pantawid, about the experiences of their community in the first week of the lockdown. Jai notes the challenges being faced by the community: access to relief and information about the developing situation (03:34) and shares anxieties, fears, and immediate concerns of the community residents (04:13). She describes community experiences and opinions on current policies being implemented and how they affect everyday life for urban poor families (10:45) and the ways residents cope with the struggles (15:03). Jai ends the conversation with a call for more responsive local governance (25:25).
