On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Zach Zeman joins the show to discuss the recent developments in the Kirill Kaprizov contract negotiations. Which side will blink first? Is Kaprizov being unreasonable? We both agree that it is in the Wild's best interests to give him a better center and sign him to a shorter deal.
We move to a game of "What If" where we look at trades involving former Wild players and discuss whether or not we would still make them or if we want a do-over. We start with Eric Staal to Buffalo. Would Staal have been an impact player for this year's Wild team? Or would the pairing of him and Parise led to one line that was just too slow to be played? We then move to Nino Niederreiter to Carolina. Would Nino be a better linemate than Mats Zuccarello is currently for Kaprizov? How would the Wild have handled the center position without Rask on the roster? We move to Alex Tuch to Vegas ahead of the Expansion Draft and both agree this is simply an example of a player who ended up being a little better than the Wild thought he would be. We finish by discussing the Jason Zucker trade in which the Wild still have a chance to reap the benefits from.
