Description

How often do you ask your parents about them? Or is it usually all  about you? I’m making more effort to ask my parents about how they grew up. My dad’s side of the family is Chinese (Cantonese) but born and raised in Vietnam. In this video he shares how they got out of Vietnam during the Vietnam war. Growing up I didn’t understand why my parents valued education so much. I found it annoying and resented that they had expectations for us to get traditional degrees. They grew up in a different time and had to endure survival in a way that I am fortunate enough to have never experienced (thanks to them).  I’m grateful I was raised the way I was, and have the parents that I do! Maybe next time you speak to your parents, you can ask about them? ?
