Description

What's up, Plant People? It's your host, Vikram Baliga, back again with Episode 7! Listen, do you like water? Of course you do! I know for a fact you like to drink, eat, bathe (at least I hope), and, well, just have the ability to live in general. Water is totally necessary for life and 100% irreplaceable to us as living organisms. It's a good thing there are people like Katherine Drury out there! Katherine is the Education and Outreach Coordinator with the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District on the Southern High Plains of Texas. I sat down with Katherine to talk about everything from her love of gardening to how different types of aquifers store and supply water to so much of North America. She's fun, personable, smart, and an excellent science communicator with experience in traditional news media, horticulture, water conservation, and so many other things. Katherine and I have been friends for years and I think you're really going to learn a lot and have a bunch of fun listening to this episode! You can find Katherine and the HPUWCD at the websites and social media outlets below!.  Enjoy the show and let me know what you think! http://www.hpwd.org/https://www.facebook.com/hpuwcdhttps://www.instagram.com/hpuwcd/https://twitter.com/HPUWCDhttps://twitter.com/KatherineDrury1As always, thanks so much for listening! If you're on this planet, plants have a HUGE impact on your life. Whether you're a vegan, a carnivore, or somewhere in between, plants are the basis of the food you eat, the clothes your wear, and the air you breathe. We don't intend just to teach you plant facts (though we'll do plenty of that), but to give you some insight into the cool people who work with them. From the soil to the plate to the climate, dive into the anthropology of plants (get it?) and learn a little more about why you should care about the world around you from the people who care about it the most.
