On episode two of Gay Card Revoked Rob and Robbie jump back in time to the groundbreaking CBS sitcom, Designing Women (1986-1993) which starred Delta Burke, Dixie Carter, Annie Potts, and Jean Smart, all under the supervision of LGBTQ+ advocate Linda and Harry Bloodworth-Thomason.
Along with casting director Paul Ruddy they look at the history of gay characters on television (Love, Sydney anybody) celebrate the girls bravery tackling AIDS, kiki about the backstage cast changes (exonerating Julia Duffy), debate if there is still stigma in Hollywood about playing gay, question if Anthony was a friend of Dorothy, praise Dixie Carter's Terminator speeches, and lay out why every LGBTQ+ southern belle must imbibe the shady ladies knows as The Sugerbakers or have their gay card revoked and burned and those tears, Marjorie, will illuminate our tear-stained face. .
