Alan’s career and key decisive moment While still playing basketball at Elon University, Alan gravitated towards performance training, strength, and conditioning. This paved the path to his 2-decade career as a basketball performance coach, where he had the chance of working with some of the top players and coaches of the sport. About a decade ago, while he was still working at the NBA’s Player Association top 100 Camp, Alan was emotionally moved and inspired by former NBA Player and renowned speaker Walter Bond’s speech to the young high school NBA Prospects. And, ever since that day, a seed was planted in Alan; the ability to positively influence the lives of others, especially through the spoken word. He knew then, that inspiration through speaking was something he would definitely explore. As a professional speaker, two of the things that I draw the most inspiration from, are hip hop and stand-up comedy. Although both are very different from corporate speaking, they both rely on the spoken words to paint a picture, shift your emotions, think, act and do differently. [12:16] “Why do you think I’m the best player in the world? Because I never get bored with the basics” – Kobe Bryant. [12:54] “Just because something is basic, it doesn’t mean it’s easy. If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it” [13:21] “The very first step to being a high performer, whether it’s in music, basketball or business, it’s to admit that the basics work. And having the humility to acknowledge that implementing the basics every single day, is definitely not easy” [16:33] “In order for your business to thrive or for you to become good at your craft, you have to work relentlessly on becoming your best self. And in order to do that, you have to make sure your bucket is always full (with daily practices and routines). To achieve true mastery is when you’re able to teach others these skills” [18:11] “Being open and constantly searching for new ways to do things, will keep you sharp and invigorated” Connect with Alan Stein Jr Website https://alansteinjr.com/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/AlanSteinJr/ Twitter https://twitter.com/AlanSteinJr Instagram https://www.instagram.com/alansteinjr/?hl=en LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/alan-s
