The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. Summer 2021 concludes with swirling confusion about many things. A return to school is looming for many children and university scholars, but policies about masks and vaccines for educators and academic staff remains contentious and varies wildly depending on geography. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis threatened to block payment to Florida educators who defy his orders and require students to wear masks. Beyond the classroom, other workers are grappling with similar conditions. Some proprietors are leery of returning to mask mandates for fear of losing customers. Conversely, other establishments have instituted vaccine mandates for employees and customers. And within all this, black workers continue to be scolded for wearing Black Lives Matter paraphernalia in the workplace.
